3 must have products for sick kids

I HATE when my kid is sick. The sound of her coughing literally makes my stomach turn! I can’t stand feeling so helpless. There’s not a whole lot you can do for a kid that has a virus/cold.

My daughter has been sick a lot lately and on top of that the flu is going around. If I could send her to school in a bubble everyday I probably would! But unfortunately I can’t do that.

Even though I can’t cure a cold over night I try very hard to make her as comfortable as possible until the nasty little bug runs its course.

Here are a few things I do to help my poor, pitiful little girl when she’s sick:

Sore throat lollipops

These cute little lollipops have been fantastic for helping suppress my little bitty’s cough and sore throat. She loves the taste so that is a HUGE plus for me! They also have a Hall’s brand but it has the ‘menthol’ taste so my kid doesn’t like them.

Nose wipes

These from Family Dollar….

…or these from Dollar General!

You can also get them from drug stores, Walmart, Target, etc. These are wonderful for keeping little nose nice and moist and preventing peeling and redness from nose wiping over and over!

Zarbee’s Honey Cough Syrup

When my daughter’s doctor told me to give her honey to help with cough and sore throat, I told her that I tried multiple times and she just would not take it. Her doctor suggested that I try a cough ‘medicine’ that is primarily honey. I found this one and decided to give it a try. The medicine is a really dark brown so it’s not the most appealing. I told my daughter it was Dr. Pepper and she drank it right up. I do have to really talk her into taking it, sometimes I have to bribe her but it does really help with her cough!

I am not sponsored by any of these products or companies. I actually use these products with my daughter and love them so much! There are a few other home remedies I have tried (like putting Vick’s vapor rub on her feet at night) and others that I want to try (like putting an onion in her room). I love home remedies and natural ways of helping with any kind of sickness. If you have any other home remedies for colds or viruses please let me know. I would love to try them out!!
